Report: Turkmenistan restarts exports of natural gas to Russia
ASHGABAT, Apr 15 (PRIME) -- Turkmenistan has resumed natural gas exports to Russia after a three-year break, Turkmen news website Orient reported on Monday quoting an industry source.
The exports were resumed under an existing 25-year contract between the country and gas giant Gazprom after a commercial pause, the newswire reported without disclosing the price and amounts of gas exports.
Gazprom initiated an arbitration case against the natural gas prices charged by Turkmen state company Turkmengaz in 2015, and terminated the contract with Turkmengaz in 2016 prematurely. In 2018, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said that the company planned to restart purchases of gas from Turkmengaz from January 1, 2019, but it did not do that. The arbitration case is also ongoing.
